Passenger information
Live occupancy per carriage on the platform
On the RE1 line of the ODEG, passengers can see which carriages still have available seats even before the train arrives. This is made possible by the ETC Platform, which brings actual occupancy data according to VDV 454 3.1 directly to the platform display.

How full is each carriage? You can now see this right on the platform.
For about a month now, the latest generation platform displays along the RE1 line of the ODEG have been showing the actual live occupancy per carriage. In real-time, right before the train arrives.
For passengers, this means they can immediately see which carriages still have free seats and can position themselves accordingly on the platform.
With this, the ODEG is one of the first regional transport companies in Germany to offer this feature. This is made possible by the actual occupancy data of the vehicles, which are processed through the ETC Platform into the VDV 454 3.1 industry standard and directly fed into the passenger information on the platform. The VDV 454 3.1 standard is the key to transmitting occupancy data uniformly between the vehicle, system, and display, allowing occupancy values of train journeys to be integrated into existing platform displays without isolated solutions.
A feature that enhances travel comfort while helping to make better use of existing capacities and reduce waiting times at stations. We are pleased that ODEG is taking the lead here.
Would you like to know how the live occupancy works in your railway company?
We will gladly show you.
