Real-time data

PTCM is integrated

Changes to the train composition are processed automatically and in real-time. No phone calls, no manual effort.

Publication date: February 4, 2026

Since January 20, 2026, our PTCM messages have been successfully processed. This is a big step for scheduling and forecasting in network operations.

PTCM stands for Passenger Train Composition Message. With this standardized message, railway undertakings convey the current train composition to the infrastructure operator such as DB InfraGO, for example, train length, carriage sequence, and technical characteristics. This data is the basis for platform assignments, scheduling, and forecasting. Since December 2025, PTCM has been mandatory EU-wide.

Previously, changes to the train composition often had to be reported by phone: time-consuming, error-prone, and resource-intensive. Now our system automatically transmits every change in real-time, even before the train's departure.

The result: better scheduling, more accurate forecasts, and more stable operations. We are rolling out the solution for many railway undertakings in our network.

And we are moving forward right away: Next, we increase usability and implement further standardized messages.
