As part of the Mireo re­place­ment fleet project on the MEX13 line in Baden-Würt­tem­berg, the ETC Plat­form serves as the cen­tral pas­sen­ger in­for­ma­tion sys­tem for the en­tire fleet.

The chal­lenge

Fleet changes with­out in­for­ma­tion dis­rup­tion

When ve­hi­cles are re­placed or sup­ple­ment­ed, pas­sen­ger in­for­ma­tion is of­ten the first sys­tem to strug­gle: Dif­fer­ent on­board sys­tems, op­er­a­tor changes, new data flows, and tight time frames in­crease the risk of con­tra­dic­to­ry dis­plays, miss­ing real-time data, and ad­di­tion­al ef­fort in con­trol cen­ters and op­er­a­tions.

Es­pe­cial­ly in a re­place­ment fleet, pas­sen­ger in­for­ma­tion must func­tion re­li­ably from day one, oth­er­wise op­er­a­tions and pas­sen­ger trust suf­fer.

A cen­tral plat­form as the FIS back­bone

The ETC Plat­form plays a cen­tral role as a back­end sys­tem for the en­tire fleet.

This cre­ates a sta­ble in­for­ma­tion chain that works even with com­plex re­quire­ments such as the ex­change of en­tire ve­hi­cle fleets.
