Passenger Information & Interfaces – ODEG
Standardized passenger information with VDV 454 (3.1)
Together with ETC Solutions, ODEG implemented the production VDV interface for passenger information, enabling a stable exchange of passenger information and train composition data via the new VDV 3.1 standard.

At a glance
ODEG in Numbers
93 trains in operation
19 lines in the network
approx. 1,671 km total route length
5 federal states: Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Brandenburg, Berlin, Saxony-Anhalt, Saxony
The challenge
How does passenger information succeed in the new DB information format?
This specifically meant:
the old interface version of the DB as a starting point (with limitations in expanded data transmission)
additional requirements through new/expanded information data in exchange
a large technical challenge in transforming/processing formation data into the DB information formats
the necessity to make the connection production-ready (incl. integration & processing logic)
The Solution
Productive VDV-454 connection (3.1) to DB information
ETC Solutions supported ODEG in bringing the VDV 454 AUS version 3.1 into operation together with the Deutsche Bahn team.
Connection and commissioning of the VDV connection (VDV 454 AUS, version 3.1)
Ensuring data processing for passenger information data (RIS)
Productive transition without 'interface breaks' in the DB's target processes

More Success Stories

Central platform for TramTrain networks - AVG Karlsruhe
The Karlsruhe model centrally managed
The Albtal-Verkehrs-Gesellschaft (AVG) centrally manages the Karlsruhe model, with dispatching, forecasting, and passenger information in one system across rail, tram, and bus. A central platform unites the entire dual-system operation for 210 vehicles and ensures consistent operational management across all modes of transport.

Operations & Replacement Service - BeNEX
Digital management of flexible replacement services
BeNEX manages replacement services end-to-end and data-driven with the ETC Platform instead of relying on disconnected systems and manual coordination. Multimodal operational and real-time logic replaces complex rail replacement service processes and ensures the flexible, reliable operation of replacement services.
